Cristin Duffy began her career as an Assistant Cook County State’s Attorney and, for 24 years, she represented hard working men and women and she advocated for them in the courtroom.
For the first half of her career, Cristin represented victims of crime and pursued offenders in the criminal trial division. In 2009, she was recruited to handle complex civil matters including Tax litigation. Specifically, Cristin pursued an outstanding, high profile Amusement Tax case, and following a trial and appeal, Duffy secured a multi-million dollar award against the Chicago Bears. During her career she tried hundreds of bench and jury trials, wrote numerous briefs and argued in the Appellate Court 14 times.
As deputy supervisor of the Real Estate Tax Division, Cristin maintained a full caseload and supervised other attorneys while representing Cook County agencies, including the Assessor, Treasurer, Collector, Cook County Board, Board of Review and County Clerk. She defended the indemnity fund, tax injunction matters, specific objection lawsuits, tax rate objections and PTAB appeals. In the tax unit, Cristin has prepared and argued motions, presenting and deposing witnesses as well as tried tax appeal cases. She also chaired the Training and Professional Development Committee. Cristin routinely presents on Real Estate Taxation matters at the CBA, ISBA and WPTA.
Cristin enjoys spending time with her husband, three children and two dogs. She volunteers and supports local schools as well as the Oak Park Food Pantry, Ronald McDonald House, Hephzibah House, Misericordia, Ignite and Special Olympics.
