Christopher D. Shouldice advises and represents business owners, national property managers and developers of commercial, industrial, hospitality, medical and multi-family real estate on property tax law and assessment challenges.

With over a decade of experience, Chris regularly guides his clients through annual budgeting and any tax implications of new acquisitions and developments by providing projections of future taxes, establishing a strong track record that helps his clients make better transactional real estate decisions.

Chris has defended significant assessment challenges before various County Boards of Review, the Illinois Property Tax Appeal Board and the Circuit Court of Cook County. In this capacity, he has secured favorable tax assessments and negotiated large property tax settlements and refund recoveries for his clients.

Prior to joining the firm, Chris served as an Assistant State’s Attorney in the Real Estate Tax Division of the Cook County State’s Attorney Office for six years where he represented various county offices including the Cook County Board of Review, the Cook County Treasurer/Collector and the Cook County Assessor. In this role, Chris developed comprehensive knowledge of how to navigate the complex procedures involved when presenting a successful real estate tax appeal and built long-standing industry relationships.

Earlier in his career, he spent three years in the Private Wealth Management Group at JPMorgan where he focused on tax and estate planning for high-net worth individuals.

In his free time, Chris enjoys spending time with his family and friends, golfing, hunting and traveling. He is an avid whisky collector who lives in Elmhurst, IL with his wife and two children, but often finds himself back in New England where he grew up to visit the Berkshires and boat on Lake Winnipesaukee.
